"When I sing well, it has nothing to do with me, it has everything to do with the souls of my forefathers who are singing through me. Whoever I am, whatever I am, is not even comparable to their spit (thook)" says the ever humble Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan.

Ustad Shafqat Salamat Ali Khan is one of the leading classical singers of this generation, equally proficient in Khayal, Thumri and Kafi. The youngest son of Ustad Salamat Ali Khan – one of the best classical singers that the Pakistan-Indian subcontinent has ever seen - Ustad Shafqat Salamat Ali Khan received his primary musical education from his father Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and his uncle Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan. Ustad Shafqat has masterfully filled his fathers shoes and taken this ancient art form to new heights.

Ustad Shafqat Salamat Ali Khan is the current flag-bearer of the Sham Churasi Gharana. He was awarded the All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC) Lifetime Achievement Award, the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan and recently the Ambassador of Peace Award by the Universal Peace Federation, USA. He regularly represents Pakistan at international venues including the UK and USA. He teaches music at the Punjab National Council of Arts (PNCA) in Lahore, Pakistan.
