Ustad Qamar uz Zaman was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He performs with his brother Ustad Badar uz Zaman, carrying forward the Kasur Gharana traditions of the art of khayal music. 

Ustad Qamar uz Zaman was born to a family of cloth merchants. He started his music career in 1956. He sings Khayal, Thumris, Dadra, and Ghazal. He received his music training from Ustad Faiz Ali (Gawaliar Gharana), Ustad Iftikhar Ahmed Khan (Dehli Gharana), Ustad Chotay Ghulam Ali Khan (Kasur Gharana) and Ustad Bhai Naseera (Punjab Gharana).

Ustad Badar uz Zaman regularly performs with his brother Ustad Qamar-uz-Zaman at the All Pakistan Music Conference in Lahore, Pakistan.
