"Music is a universe that can never be fully explored or understood, only felt and experienced" says the sublime Ustad Naseer Uddin Saami.

Ustad Naseer ud Din Saami is the son of Abdul Hameed Khan Saami and is arguably the greatest living classical singer of our time. He is the flag bearer of the Qawwal Bacha gharana (tradition) which is also known as Taan Ras Khan's Delhi gharana. His forefathers were students of the legendary Taan Sain. He received his primary music education from his paternal uncle and mentor Ustad Munshi Razi ud Din Ahmed and subsequently from his maternal uncle Iftikhar Ahmed Khan and his grandfather Sardar Khan. He is descended from the founders of the Delhi gharana and it is said that his great grandfather Mian Samath was the disciple of Hazrat Ameer Khusro.

His singing is characterized by purity of sur (the note) and effortless movement between notes and effective use of micronotes. According to some accounts, he is the only person that knows the 49 “lost” shurtis (microtones) that were established in Baghdad during the 9th century.

Ustad Naseer ud Din Saami is winner of the 3rd All Pakistan Music Conference's Lifetime Achievement Award given in 2008. In 2013 he was awarded Pakistan's Pride of Performance - Pakistan's highest civilian honour - for his contributions to Pakistan's music. In 2009 he was awarded the 'Tamgha e Imtiaz'. He regularly performs internationally and performs at the annual festival of the All Pakistan Music Conference every year.
