Ustad Hussain Baksh Gullu is one of the leading thumri and kafi singers of his generation. His father, Ustad Nathu Khan was himself a renowned classical singer. Ustad Hussain Baksh Gullu received his primary music education from his father who was Ustad Fateh Ali Khan (of the Patiala gharana)’s student. He subsequently learnt from Ustad Salamat Ali Khan (of the Sham Churasi gharana) and his brother Ghulam Hussain.
His son's Chand & Suraj Khan continue in his footsteps.

Ustad Hussain Baksh is equally proficient in khayal, thumri, kafi and ghazals. He has composed many a Ghazal. Due to this mix of influence from both the Patiala and Shaam Churasi gharana, his singing style has characteristics of both the Patiala gharana and the Sham Churasi gharana.

Ustad Hussain Baksh Gullu is the recipient of the 2019 All Pakistan Music Conference Lifetime Achievement Award, the Chandigarh Award for Music presented by the Chandigarh Club, India and the Pride of Performance presented by the Government of Pakistan. He regularly performs at the All Pakistan Music Conference in Lahore, Pakistan, on Radio Pakistan and PTV.
