Ustad Akhat Ali Khan (b. 1944, Sham Churasi, District Hoshiarpur) was the younger brother of legendary classical vocalists Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan. Trained from a young age by his elder brothers, he began singing at just seven years old. After completing his education at Amritsar College Multan, he embarked on a journey in classical music, specializing in Khayal, Thumri, and Kafi.
He formed a celebrated duo with his younger brother, Ustad Zakir Ali Khan, and together they showcased their mastery of classical raags on prominent platforms, including Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan, Doordarshan, and All India Radio. Known for their exceptional skill in Thumri, the brothers earned acclaim as masters of Khayal and Thumri in a short span.
Ustad Akhtar Ali Khan also contributed to music literature, authoring several works on classical music, including the renowned book Naurang-e-Musiqi, which remains a valuable resource in the field.
