Aliya Rasheed is one of only 2 Pakistani female Dhurpad singers and is partially blind. 

She received her music education from Uma Kand Gandecha & Rama Kand Gandecha (of Bhopal, India) and subsequently from Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, Sarah Zaman and Shabbir Hussain Jhaari. In 2000, she won the gold medal in the Ghazal category at the All Pakistan Music Conference, Lahore - a stage at which she continues to perform regularly.  She has performed on numerous international stages and currently teaches a diploma of musicology at National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan (one of the best art schools in South Asia).
