Akmal Qadri is one of the leading bansuri/flute players in Pakistan. He is the 4th generation of an illustrious bansuri playing family.

Akmal was born in Lahore and received his primary music education from his father, the legendary Ustad Sain Ditta Qadri. He used to hear his father play at home and was captivated by the rich, meditative sound, and finally decided to start learning in 10th grade. His early years were challenging - he was refused admission in the music department at Government College, something he was really looking forward to and half-expected as he hailed from a respected bansuri playing family. He almost gave up after this had it not been for his mother, who convinced him to continue his pursuit and his family tradition. He continued, at her insistence, and started to accompany his father to Radio Pakistan, where he had the opportunity to hear and learn from the legends of Pakistani classical music. 

Akmal Qadri is now recognized as one of the leading bansuri players of the world. He is a regular feature of the All Pakistan Music Conference, Lahore and Karachi and performs at numerous national and international festivals. He currently resides and teaches his craft in Lahore.
